6-Months
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 is a unique device that stands out in a sea of sameness. With smartphones getting bigger and bigger, the phone offers the perfect compromise with a large 6.8-inch display that can be folded in half for easier pocketability. In this updated review, I will take a closer look at Samsung’s foldable flagship, six months after its release, particularly in light of the arrival of new flagship models in 2023.
The good news is that it has held up remarkably well. The design of this device is a true testament to the art of engineering – it’s elegant, and refined, and its speed and performance are on par with that of a Galaxy S. This is a significant improvement from its predecessor. The phone has a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor, 8GB of RAM, and multiple storage configurations, making it plenty powerful. Even though there will be faster phones in 2023, the Z Flip4 is still the only flip phone game in the United States or Canada that truly matters.
The camera is not as strong as the Galaxy S series or other flagship phones, but it still takes great pictures. The increased pixel size results in significantly improved low-light photography compared to its previous version. Samsung has also made enhancements to the processing of artificial intelligence and stereo depth mapping to capture more intricate details in photos. Hey, don’t get me wrong, the colour reproduction is not exactly mind-blowing, but the level of detail, shadows, and highlights it captures is pretty impressive! However, when it comes to zooming, let’s just say it’s not exactly keeping up with the Joneses.
The cover display is genuinely useful and has come a long way since the original Z Flip. The external display is much larger and has lots more functionality, making it easy to check notifications, control music, manage alarms, check the weather, set a timer, and check the calendar. You even have extras like turning on your flashlight or keeping track of your fitness goals.
While it is not perfect, it is still a great device that stands out from the mass. The device crease on the main display is noticeable, but you adjust quickly. The device can get hot under heavy loads. Samsung made significant improvements to its cover display, making it genuinely appealing.
In conclusion, the phone is a unique device that offers a perfect compromise for people looking for something less massive. This phone’s design is sleek and refined, giving off a polished vibe that’s hard to resist. And when it comes to speed and performance, it handles like a Galaxy S – no sluggishness in sight! The camera takes great pictures, and the cover display is on point. The device is not perfect it is still an excellent option for those looking for a flip phone that stands out from the few available.
