They aren’t flagship smartphones, but they’ll get anything and everything most consumers are doing with theirs done. Lots of YouTube videos, Snapchat, browsing the web, spending hours on social media, playing some games here and there.
The G7 and the G7 Power are for the general consumer, which means you the one likely reading this post!
The top things people are most interested in:
1. Good camera pictures.
2. Good battery.
3. Smooth experience.
4. Lots of storage.
The answer to these inquiries can be summed up with a yes.
Taking good pictures often takes a bit of time and can’t be rushed. Don’t expect the level of precision and accuracy that you would from a flagship. Keeping your expectations at the same height as the midrange type of devices will yield more positive results for yourself.
Expect excellent use of the battery. The G7 resulted in a full day of work and more. By the time it was bedtime, I have about 17% battery left. The G7 Power provided a lot more by the time bed rolled around. With only 43% left.
My experience while using either of the devices was pretty flawless, no hard stuttering, no hard unresponsiveness, no force close. Switching in between applications could have been faster, but overall nothing critical.
Being the power user that I am, I felt at home using the G7 and the G7 Power.
I know some people swear with ample storage. I don’t personally need much when it comes to it. The 64GB of storage was more than enough to accommodate my need. You can also expand this with a micro SD storage card which can handle up to 1TB!
Let’s dive into other aspects of these smartphones.
You may want to look into the display of each of these devices as one features 1080P and the other 720P. If you’re one to fuss about the screen; I recommend visiting a retailer to see the differences in person. Of course one will look much better over the other if you’re into that.
Both sport Gorilla Glass 3 which I’m not sure why, but my guess would be to keep cost at the lowest. Gorilla Glass 3 is a material used for protecting your smartphone screen from scratches.
They both include the infamous 3.5mm jack for use with analog audio headphones and make use of speakers which are not bad at all. Something I’m sure will make some people very happy.
In the interest of providing some feedback about the speakers on the G7 & the G7 Power, I played several hours worth of tunes. It was for the most part ok if I didn’t play at the full volume where it got crackling.
In 2019 all smartphones offer a fingerprint sensor, fast charging, decent hardware and overall good experience. I’m glad to see that Motorola has kept the minimalist approach to the Android operating system. With all the extra fluff kept away, this has contributed to ensuring the best possible experience.
seems to be working fairly good as well. Whether this is playing Harry Potter: Wizards Unite or some Pubg you’ll be delighted. I had a fun time playing some of my favourite RPG’s and I wasn’t disappointed with the performance.
The Moto G7 family is currently scheduled to receive one major Android OS upgrade. The devices are listed to receive the Android Security Bulletin update every 60 to 90 days for up to two years after launch.
The decision to upgrade a device is made on a case-by-case basis with several factors in mind, including carrier approvals, partner support, the capabilities of the device, number of devices in use, where the device is in its lifecycle and the overall experience.
What would they cost you? The Moto G7 retails for $349.99 CAD while the G7 Power retails for $299.99 CAD. This is why I say that the best budget smartphone 2019 are the Moto G7, Moto G7 Plus, Moto G7 Power.
