End of life for Google+ is approaching. The end of an “ERA”.
Let’s give some eye-opening to Google+ Exporter from my friends over at friends plus.me. Get your Google+ content exported to WordPress, Blogger & JSON. The tool is simple to use and effective. Export your Google+ profile, page, collection and community posts separately or together.
Google+ Exporter tool exports ALL your posts (profiles, pages, collections, and communities) including comments and transforms them into a well-documented structure and prepares import files for your WordPress blog. Oh the other hand, Google Takeout is not documented at all, terribly structured, hard to transform to any reasonable import for other services and with no support from Google at all.
One of the unfortunate constraints of using this tool is that you’re limited to 800 posts. I’m definitely not a fan of this, however, you can extract quite a bit.
This is the easy method if you want something simple. While on the other hand as noted above you can go with the Takeout route.
To download Google+ data or any data tied to your Google account, you’ll want to use a tool called “Google Takeout.” This handy tool conveniently lets you download any of the data from your Google account that you want all from one location. You can access Google Takeout at takeout.google.com.
If you only want to download data from your Google+ account, you’ll want to use the “Select None” button to unselect everything. Once done, you can go down the list and make specific picks on what to download. To download Google+ data, you’ll need to select the following options:
- +1s
- Google+ Circles
- Google+ Communities
- Google+ Stream
- Hangouts
- Hangouts on Air
- Profile
One alternative to Google+ is MeWe, which looks a lot like a more polished up Facebook with a focus on privacy and free speech. That’s because a lot of the more active people from Google+ seem to have decided to migrate to MeWe en masse. I leave you with this and will let you the people make up your own mind.
